Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Transition Process

Dual Language Immersion is a parent choice program that begins in kindergarten and then continues into middle school.  At the high school level, the DLI program ends, but students can continue their world language journey at both Kelly Walsh High School and Natrona County High School. There are certain courses that are offered at the Pathway Innovation Center (PIC) for district accessibility at one central location.

At the end of the 8th-grade year, students in DLI programs will take a college-level placement assessment that will measure the student's proficiency in the target language.  This assessment informs a student's class placement in the respective DLI program and collegiate placement standards.

Spanish Pathway
Students will take the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam during a scheduled time at Casper College as scheduled by Dean Morgan Middle School.  This usually takes place in mid to late April.  NCSD pays for the assessment for DLI students.  The exam will inform students which class in the pathway they are best suited to start based on their proficiency level.  Students will enroll in the qualifying corresponding course as identified by the CLEP in their 9th grade year and then will progress through the pathway sequentially.
