Course Description
Business Law is a survey of the American legal system designed to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of business law. Classes are conducted by using text and actual case studies for the purpose of observing the development and application of legal principles in a business activity. Topics covered include the nature of law, courts and court procedures, crimes and torts, contracts, sales, and negotiable instruments. This course provides the student with a working knowledge of the legal framework within which formal business organizations must operate.Students will learn about morals and ethics and how they are applied to our legal system. Students will identify different kinds of laws and crimes. About the relationship between ethics and the law, and the structure of the court system in the United States. Ethics are the rules we use to distinguish right from wrong and guide our behavior.They will learn the basic elements found in an offer and acceptance. Given a case study the students will analyze the case to determine if an acceptance occurred and explain why the contract is legal or not. General agreements will be examined and how they apply to real life.
