Course Description

Students that have previously enrolled and successfully completed Welding Tech I and are enrolled in welding II will gain experience in a series of advanced welding techniques in both Flux Cored Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Welded processes. Students will practice and complete weldments in the horizontal and vertical positions. Students will complete a guided bend test that will be visually inspected and bent according to industry standards to evaluate students’ welding ability. Additional units of study include metallurgy, welding symbols, blueprint reading, thermal cutting, and instruction in the use of metal fabricating equipment such as the CNC Plasma torch. Classroom instruction will include the AWS SENSE curriculum to ensure a viable and consistent curriculum. Other resources will also be introduced to meet curriculum requirements and standards. Students may be eligible to receive a SENSE completion certificate at the end of the course. The SENSE program shall NOT be confused with the AWS Certified welder certification program. Students may also have the opportunity to earn a completion certification and meet competencies in the NCCER (National Center forConstruction Education and Research) Level I and Level II Welding Curriculum.
