Course Description
Welding Tech I starts the course sequence for students interested in the welding and manufacturing pathway. Students will be introduced to the OAW, GMAW, and SMAW processes, along with a variety of cutting processes. Welded joints in the flat and position are performed in the above-mentioned processes as well as visual and guided bend tests that will evaluate students’ welding ability. Additional units of study include metallurgy, welding symbols, blueprint reading, thermal cutting, and instruction in the use of metal fabricating equipment. This course prepares students for advanced-level welding courses and the opportunity to earn competencies in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Level I and Level II Welding Curriculum
