This course enables students to discover and explore how the computer can be used as a tool to communicate visually through the arts. Computer-assisted art courses provide the opportunity to become skilled at illustration, digital painting, graphic design, and photo manipulation while learning creative problem-solving skills. Industry-standard software, such as the Adobe Production Suite, will be implemented. Students will work towards producing a final marketable portfolio demonstrating mastery of technical skills and the ability to concisely communicate original concepts. Students will critically examine artists/designers through their cultural and historical context while making informed connections to their art-making process. This is a hands-on, project-oriented class where students learn to solve problems, multi-task projects, and develop their own projects.
